About The Position

The Laser Operator is responsible for utilizing computerized numerical control machining skills efficiently to support production team. It requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to high-quality, reliable workmanship. This position will play a crucial role in the production process and contribute to the company’s overall performance in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Attitude (QCDSA). Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years CNC experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret and edit G-code.
  • Must be able to set up machines with no supervision.
  • Experience in editing programs, ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • High proficiency in reading Blueprints, GD&T, Inspection Tools and Methods.
  • Experience with Aerospace and Spacecraft materials, tolerance and quality requirements.
  • Detail-oriented with commitment to first-piece quality and zero-defect outcomes.
  • Mechanically and Analytical inclined and confident operating complex machinery. Troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and ERP and Material Management systems.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Adhere to OSHA, NADCAP, ISO9000 / AS9100, ITAR, FAA regulations and company specific safety standards.
  • Internal Certifications: Forklift, Slings/Cranes, FPV, or others deemed appropriate.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift). Able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25-50lbs regularly, and occasionally heavier weights with assistance.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to manufacturing environments, including moderate noise levels, vibrations, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required, Such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Laser machine(s) to cut surfaces of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces.
  • Compares numerical data display with specifications on operations sheet.
  • Reads, interprets and edits G-Code for offset change.
  • Periodically verify the conformity of the parts being machined to the specification in the router packet.
  • Adjusts program parameters to allow for variation in size, material hardness, and other factors affecting the effective performance of the cut quality.
  • Grinds, deburrs and polishes parts to achieve smooth finished edges and surfaces, and then clear out the interior surfaces of all holes.
  • Performs basic day to day maintenance of machine.
  • Provides feedback for product improvements for quality and cost as part of ongoing learning process of operations.
  • Exhibits a High-Quality Control Standard- First Piece Quality or Zero Scrap Mentality.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation (e.g., routers, inspection logs).
  • Function as a team member and under minimal supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
