Tessera is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist III to join our manufacturing operation in Auburn, Washington. CNC Machinist III are responsible for operating 3, 4 and 5 axis machining centers to produce high-quality aerospace components. They set up 3, 4 and 5 Axis jobs and Machine tooling for 3, 4 and 5 axis parts with minimal supervision. They interpret blueprints and GD&T. Communication skills are critical, as well as a willingness to learn in a positive fashion. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Operates CNC 3, 4 and 5 axis machining centers, including Horizontal Mills, with minimal supervision.
  • Performs setup on 3, 4 and 5 axis machining centers, including Horizontal Mills, with minimal supervision.
  • Inspects parts being machined to ensure high quality standards are being maintained.
  • Ability to run 2 machines and deburr parts while machine is running when time allows.
  • Ability to run machines and troubleshoot issues on complex hard and exotic metal parts.
  • The ability to machine tooling for 3, 4 and 5 axis parts with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to suggest ideas for new part implementation and improvements to existing jobs.
  • Ensures work is clean and complete to specifications.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area.
  • Follow process specifications, travelers, drawings, blueprints, rework/rejection tags, work instructions, relevant process controls, and verbal/written instructions.
  • Perform tool changes and offset as needed.
  • Works with measuring tools such as height gauge, micrometer, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and standards.
  • Preserves equipment with an emphasis on preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Observe cutting tools and inserts and replace when necessary to assure continuous quality machining with minimal downtime.
  • Make offsets when necessary.
  • Commitment to the improvement of CNC machined part processes.
  • Employee will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the plant floor.
  • Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.
  • Has the ability to positively work with process improvements and changes in overall company processes.
  • All Other Duties as Assigned
  • 5+ years of previous experience working in Aerospace or Commercial Manufacturing is required, with knowledge of CNC equipment operation.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001:2015/AS9100D
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, strong understanding of geometric tolerancing and other visual specification layouts such as PCMs
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking.
  • Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
  • A valid state driver’s license is preferred with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.

  • Technical Certificate in Manufacturing or related industry is preferred.
  • Certified Machinist is preferred.
  • MasterCAM and 5-Axis knowledge is preferred.
  • Horizontal Mill and hard metal experience is preferred.
