About The Position

​CNC Machinist II​ Responsibilities Include: Fabricates metal parts by operating mechanical equipment. Operates one or more types of machines in order to meet production demands. Sets and adjusts machine settings as necessary. Reads and interprets diagrams and blueprints to select, position, and secure machinery to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product. Complete tasks accurately according to customer specifications. Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, location of surfaces, machining parameters, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; and indicating vices. Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards. Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting controls; replacing worn tools; and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Documents actions by completing production and quality logs. Updates job knowledge by participating in education opportunities. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of experience is required.
  • Ability to demonstrate the skill, knowledge and experience required to manufacture complex parts with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to make complex tooling, inspect complex parts and be able to read and edit complex programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints, technical data and related specifications.
  • Ability to exhibit good attendance, a good attitude, and the ability to work well with others.
  • Must be eligible to work on programs subject to ITAR Regulations. Therefore, candidates must be a U.S. citizens
  • Must pass the pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
