The CNC Machinist I role focuses on the set up and operation of various machines per customer and work instruction specifications for product production. The position involves efficiently setting up and operating machines for production runs of products, ensuring the proper tooling and computer programs are installed for jobs, and adjusting machine feed & speed, changing tooling, or adjusting machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction. The machinist will monitor the machine during production runs and adjust programs as necessary, calculate machine speed and feed ratio, and the size and position of cuts. Additionally, the role requires the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools to verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications, prioritizing work according to the production schedule, maintaining cleanliness of equipment and work area, wearing proper PPE while in the shop's work areas, managing waste responsibly, and promoting energy conservation. Other duties may be assigned to meet departmental and company objectives.
