The CNC Machinist at National Oilwell Varco (NOV) is responsible for operating and controlling Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines to produce high-quality parts for the oil and gas industry. This role requires expertise in G & M codes, precision measurements, and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain CNC equipment. The position is crucial for ensuring efficient production processes and adherence to safety and quality standards.

  • Operate and control CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines under supervision.
  • Perform set-up changes and first article inspections on production runs.
  • Load parts using overhead lifting equipment and operate controls to set offsets and make simple edits.
  • Identify problems before production runs and adjust machine controls as necessary.
  • Read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Maintain knowledge of tooling instructions including fixtures, feed rates, and cutting speeds.
  • Prove out new programs and make simple edits of NC programs on CNC machines.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and perform basic preventative maintenance functions.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of basic math, blueprints, and routers.
  • Knowledge of the proper use of measuring tools/gauges and cutting tools.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Mazak CNC machines.
  • Knowledge of VTL, HBM, and GTL machines.
