About The Position

The CNC Machinist / CNC Grinder position at Thomas Instrument involves the setup and operation of multi-axis numerical control machines, with a focus on precision machining of aerospace tools and parts. The role requires a strong understanding of CNC machining methods, inspection of machined parts, and the ability to work with both metallic and nonmetallic materials according to specifications.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in CNC machining.
• Ability to hold tolerances of .0002 / .0001.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of CNC machining and production of aerospace tools and parts.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with adaptive problem solving and implementing solutions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Drake CNC machines preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multi-axis numerical control machines.
• Inspect machined parts for quality and adherence to specifications.
• Adjust and calculate machine speed, depths, and feed ratios.
• Change cutting tools and adjust machine controls as necessary.
• Check and edit existing CNC programs using Fanuc or Mitsubishi controls.
• Assemble and preset tooling for the next operation to minimize downtime.
• Observe machine operations to detect and troubleshoot problems.
• Measure dimensions of finished work pieces using precision measuring tools.
