As a CNC Machinist Apprentice, you'll embark on a 9-to-12-month journey that combines classroom instruction at Cape Fear Community College with rotational, on-the-job training at GE Aerospace. Under the mentorship of seasoned professionals, you'll master the art of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting CNC machines-critical tools in the production of high-quality aerospace components.   • Operate and maintain CNC machines with precision and care.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and ensure seamless production processes.
  • Interpret technical drawings and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Uphold safety protocols and quality standards in every task.
  • Collaborate with mentors and teammates to foster a supportive learning environment.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. using proper ergonomic procedures.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
  • GE Aerospace will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening.
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a drug screen (as applicable).
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with manual machining tools.
  • Exposure to band saws, drill presses, and hand tools.
  • Vo-tech training or coursework in machining, welding, auto mechanics, or electrical work.
  • Autonomous problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
