About The Position

Spira Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Machinist who plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision parts and components. This position requires strong attention to detail to ensure all machined parts meet exact specifications and quality standards. The machinist will interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to set up and adjust machines accordingly. Responsibilities include monitoring machine operations, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting issues during production. This role ensures efficient, accurate, and safe machining processes that contribute to overall operational success. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a formal CNC machining training program or equivalent experience
  • Basic understanding of CNC machine operation and programming
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain tight tolerances
  • Ability to accurately set up and operate CNC machines
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Familiarity with GD&T standards
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of CNC programming concepts
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve machining or process issues efficiently
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for CNC programming
  • Familiarity with multiple types of CNC machines
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills with experience troubleshooting machining issues
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines to manufacture parts according to specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders
  • Perform inspections and measurements to verify part accuracy
  • Adjust machine settings and tooling to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and minor repairs on CNC equipment
  • Document production activities, machine performance, and deviations
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve issues and improve processes
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace
