General Function: The CNC Machining Apprentice will participate in a structured training program to learn the skills necessary to become a certified Machinist. Under the direct supervision of experienced machinists and management, the apprentice will gain hands on experience in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting various machine tools including manual and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and a willingness to learn.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Requires long periods of standing (up to 10 hours/day).
  • Lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and metal materials.
  • Requires good eye, hand coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Safety is our first priority. All employees must operate machinery safely and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an organized and clean workspace following 5S methodology.
  • Perform basic daily maintenance and cleaning of machines and work areas.
  • Maintain accurate training logs and production records.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work with precision.
  • Learn to interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Learn the proper metrology techniques and use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Learn to set up and operate conventional and CNC machines such as lathes, mills and grinders.
  • Enroll and actively participate in classroom instruction at the partnered community college.
  • On-job-training modules as required by the apprenticeship program.
