About The Position

The CNC Machine Operator at Merrill Steel is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to perform various metal fabrication tasks. This role requires technical skills in operating machinery and tools, as well as a strong focus on quality and safety. The position offers a flexible schedule and is integral to the production of complex structural steel and plate fabrications for significant projects across the country.

Requirements

• Forklift Certification
• Basic math skills
• Mechanical knowledge
• Ability to operate power tools
• Entry-level experience in manufacturing or machining.

• Experience with press brake machines
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
• Acute situational awareness
• Experience with overhead cranes.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate CNC machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, drill, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal.
• Operate grinders and other power tools as needed.
• Read and interpret measurements using a tape measure.
• Ensure quality and safety standards are met during operations.
• Maintain situational awareness and operate overhead cranes when trained.
