About The Position

The position involves setting up and operating CNC equipment and performing various machining operations. The candidate will be responsible for operating single spindle or multiple spindles on a variety of operations including drilling, reaming, boring, tapping, and more. The role requires the use of tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges necessary for operations, as well as checking for proper tooling, sharpness, and alignment. The candidate will work with close tolerances and fine finishes, perform tool offsets, and load parts. The position also involves operating multiple machines simultaneously and troubleshooting tools, fixtures, and equipment as necessary. The candidate will interact frequently with internal and external customers and support functions, and will be expected to participate in and lead team initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED equivalency.
  • 3 years machine shop experience.
  • Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation.
  • Prior working knowledge of machine shop operations.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years machine shop experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Education and/or training in machine shop operations.
  • Understanding of CNC and manual machine operations.
  • Basic programming knowledge to include reading and editing of programs.
  • Experience in a self-directed team environment.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC equipment.
  • Operate any type and size of single spindle or multiple spindles on a variety of operations (drilling, reaming, boring, tapping, spot facing, countersinking, etc.).
  • Use all tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges necessary to perform operations.
  • Set up and operate lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, and hand tools to fabricate parts and tools.
  • Check for proper tooling, sharpness, and alignment.
  • Work with close tolerances and fine finishes.
  • Perform tool offset and load parts.
  • Operate multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Perform duties on complex prototypes or first-time builds.
  • Troubleshoot tools, fixtures, and equipment as necessary.
  • Perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements.
  • Interact with internal and/or external customers and support functions.
  • Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures.
  • Participate in and lead team initiatives.
  • Report problems to appropriate resources and/or Coach.
  • Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products.
  • Understand and abide by the GE Leadership behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as required.
