About The Position

Phoenix Laser Solutions is seeking a highly skilled CNC Lathe Programmer / Machinist responsible for advanced CNC lathe programming, process development, and complex job setup. This role focuses on programming from prints and models, optimizing machining strategies, and supporting production with high accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in GD&T (ANSI Y14.5).
  • Advanced CAM programming experience, preferably ESPRIT.
  • Solid 3D modeling experience (ESPRIT preferred).
  • Deep understanding of CNC lathe tooling, feeds, speeds, and workholding.
  • High attention to detail and process accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to visualize finished parts and machining sequences.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-mix, precision machining environment.
  • Flexibility to support a wide range of projects and priorities.
  • Minimum 5+ years of CNC programming and machining experience.
  • CNC Lathe Programming: 4–5+ years (Preferred).
  • CNC Lathe Setup and Operation: 4–5+ years (Preferred).
  • Experience machining tight-tolerance, high-precision components.

Nice To Haves

  • Manual Lathe and/or Bridgeport experience: Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Program CNC Lathe machines using ESPRIT from blueprints and 3D models.
  • Develop, optimize, and prove out machining processes for complex parts.
  • Set up CNC lathes, select tooling, and define cutting parameters.
  • Interpret GD&T, engineering drawings, and CAD models to tight tolerances.
  • Identify optimal machining strategies to improve cycle time, quality, and tool life.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across machining operations.
  • Perform and document First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program-related issues.
  • Collaborate with operators, engineering, and quality teams to resolve production challenges.
  • Must be able to program, set up, and support jobs through completion.
