About The Position

As a CNC Lathe Operator at Reader Precision Solutions, you will join an award-winning company on a mission to supply its clients with the industry’s leading precision parts and components. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced CNC Lathe Operator to join our high-tech machining facility. In this role, you will be responsible for operating CNC machines to produce precision components. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the quality of the machined parts, interpreting blueprints, and collaborating with the production team to maintain a smooth workflow. Routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety protocols are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience working with Miyano or similar equipment

  • Operational knowledge and ability to use inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, comparator, surface tester, indicators, pin & thread gauges, Oasis, Micronite & CMM, measuring systems)
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics (arithmetic & geometry) is required
  • Good computer skills with the ability to demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in completing basic data entry within the ERP manufacturing system
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Knowledge of basic metalworking theory (cutting, tooling, material properties, machine tools, cutting fluids & coolants)
  • Vision corrected to 20/20

Responsibilities

  • Operate two or more Miyano ABX or BNX machines that perform a series of machining operations such as turning, drilling, boring, threading & milling to specifications
  • Prepare and load specified bar stock into bar loader
  • Monitor machine operation & verify conformance of work piece to specifications using measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM, OASIS, Keyence, & functional gauges)
  • Consistently check parts per inspection instructions; ensure non-conforming parts are controlled per protocols
  • Adjust part dimensions by making offsets, change inserts, properly center & touch off tools as needed
  • Review and interpret details on process router, scheduling board, part drawings, and inspection instructions.
  • Perform basic trouble-shooting of machine & bar feeder alarms
  • Adhere to AS9100 quality standards per protocol
  • Consistently clean & maintain machines & related equipment to ensure optimal conditions for success
  • Examine processes & identify opportunities for continuous improvement. We are all problem solvers at Precision Plus!
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and organization
  • Communicate daily feedback of notable items to following shift team member at end of shift
