The CNC Lathe Machinist position at Burke Porter, An Ascential Technologies Company, involves setting up and running CNC lathes with Okuma controls. The role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, blueprints, and GD&T to produce parts accurately and efficiently. The machinist will work closely with team members to troubleshoot programming issues and ensure compliance with customer specifications. The position is full-time and on-site in Three Rivers, MI.

  • Setup and run CNC lathes (single turret, double turret, live tooling) with Okuma controls.
  • Interpret blueprints and GD&T to produce parts from start to finish.
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment to maintain accuracy and compliance to customer specifications.
  • Work with team members to resolve part processing and programming issues.
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, and specifications.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample work pieces.
  • Maintain specifications by observing all machining operations and taking measurements.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Complete preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Follow quality standards to ensure parts meet customer and company standards.
  • Build fixtures, tooling, and develop programs independently.
  • Five years' experience as a CNC Machinist I.
  • Knowledge of work holding (cutting jaws, clamping pressures).
  • Knowledge of tooling and inserts.
  • Experience with G&M codes, program troubleshooting, and editing.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and GD&T.
  • Experience with Mastercam programming is a plus.
  • Ability to utilize precision measuring equipment.
  • Aerospace experience.
