About The Position

The CNC Machinist role is located in Grandview, MO and reports to our Machine Group Lead. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop new machining processes to produce new parts or parts that have yet to be produced on the CNC equipment. Review part prints to identify tooling and fixture needs, developing new fixtures or altering existing fixtures as needed. Write new CNC programs, complete initial setup and troubleshoot the new process. Set-up and install tooling necessary for parts production as directed by the Machining Team Leader. This involves obtaining tooling from the tool storage area, installing in any of the special production machines in the prescribed manner, and making adjustments to produce parts within stated manufacturing tolerances. Check first piece dimensions after set-up to assure conformance with engineering prints and quality standards. Use a variety of measuring instruments; i.e. micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, plug and ring gages, etc. Train new machine set-up personnel and machine operators in the proper use of the machines and instruct them how to perform quality part checks. Advise management of spare parts required for repairs to equipment and tooling, within budget constraints. Perform simple repairs to equipment as needed. Order spare parts as required to properly maintain equipment and tooling. Responsible for general housekeeping in his/her immediate area of responsibility. Assure strict adherence to company safety and health standards. Collects, records, and maintains accurate CNC programs and other production related information and/or data as required. Requirements

  • Experienced machinist who can set up and run CNC lathes.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, work to close tolerances, use precision measuring tools, monitor machines and be able to make necessary adjustments.
  • Must be able to follow established processes, quality and safety standards.
  • Inspection experience is helpful.
  • Familiarity with G-code programming and the basic operation of Fanuc controls
  • Must have sufficient experience and/or training in basic machine shop practices to program, set-up, and operate both manual and CNC equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and tooling instructions on both existing and new parts.
  • Must already possess ALL CNC Intermediate Program / Set-Up / Operate VIII Skills, Experience and Requirements.
  • Must display and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to generate process data, tool lists, set-up sheets, and machine programs without assistance.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to reach above shoulders
  • Ability to walk back and forth through-out facility
  • Ability to control operation with hand or foot
  • Ability to lift / carry up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to turn wrist frequently in repetitive motion
