About The Position

We are looking for a dependable CNC Laser Operator with at least 1 year of experience operating a CNC laser or CNC plasma machine within a metal fabrication environment. The ideal candidate understands metal processing, works accurately, and can keep production flowing smoothly. This role is responsible for operating CNC laser cutting equipment to produce high‑quality metal parts that meet customer and engineering specifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating a CNC laser or CNC plasma cutting machine.
  • Experience working in a metal fabrication shop or industrial environment.
  • Ability to read fabrication blueprints and understand tolerances.
  • Strong understanding of metal types, gauges, and cut characteristics.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, handle sheet metal, and stand for extended periods.
  • Solid attention to detail and consistent quality focus.
  • Dependable work ethic with the ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with sheet metal or plate fabrication.
  • Knowledge of nesting software (e.g., SigmaNEST, ProNest).
  • Familiarity with downstream processes such as press brake, welding, or metal finishing.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines to process various metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Load and unload raw sheets, plates, and finished parts safely and efficiently.
  • Adjust cutting parameters such as speed, power, and gas settings based on material thickness and type.
  • Read and interpret metal fabrication blueprints, cut lists, and fabrication drawings.
  • Inspect parts for accuracy using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision instruments.
  • Monitor machine performance, identify cutting inconsistencies, and make real‑time adjustments as needed.
  • Perform basic maintenance such as lens cleaning, nozzle changes, alignment checks, and slag removal.
  • Work closely with fabrication, welding, and quality teams to ensure parts meet downstream requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with metal shop safety procedures.
