CNC Horizontal Set-up

About The Position

Responsible for, but not limited to setting-up/operating assigned machinery. The Set-up machinist ensures that the machine runs smoothly and is appropriately maintained. The essential role of a Set-up machinist is to set up production machines following prints and specifications and to inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet requirements.

Requirements

Must be able up to lift 50 lbs.
Basic math, writing and computer skills.
Must be able to set up/run multiple machines.
Must be able to read prints e.g., able to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.
Be able to inspect their own parts and be proficient with inspection tools.
Minimum 5 years of Horizontal mill setup experience (Preferably Matsuura, or FANUC Controls), machining certification OR completion of a full apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

Use drawings (blueprint), specs and instructions to operate CNC Machinery.
Document processes pertaining to running and/or improvements made to set up or operate assigned machines.
Sustain a safe, efficient, and clean work environment.
Responsible for the general maintenance and clean-up of the shop.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems involving tooling, materials, programs, equipment, and part specifications.
Identify and recommend changes to part specifications to improve machine ability.
Perform other job-related duties.
