About The Position

Responsible for, but not limited to setting-up/operating assigned machinery. The Set-up machinist ensures that the machine runs smoothly and is appropriately maintained. The essential role of a Set-up machinist is to set up production machines following prints and specifications and to inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be able up to lift 50 lbs.
  • Basic math, writing and computer skills.
  • Must be able to set up/run multiple machines.
  • Must be able to read prints e.g., able to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.
  • Be able to inspect their own parts and be proficient with inspection tools.
  • Minimum 5 years of Horizontal mill setup experience (Preferably Matsuura, or FANUC Controls), machining certification OR completion of a full apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

  • Use drawings (blueprint), specs and instructions to operate CNC Machinery.
  • Document processes pertaining to running and/or improvements made to set up or operate assigned machines.
  • Sustain a safe, efficient, and clean work environment.
  • Responsible for the general maintenance and clean-up of the shop.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems involving tooling, materials, programs, equipment, and part specifications.
  • Identify and recommend changes to part specifications to improve machine ability.
  • Perform other job-related duties.
