Viper Northwest, Inc. is a precision, quick response, build-to-print manufacturing organization, making precision fabricated and machined parts and assemblies for satisfied customers since 1985. The CNC Horizontal Mill Machinist will machine parts to tolerance based on blueprint requirements with a variety of metals and plastics using CNC machines. This position will provide support in programming, machining, and verification of products.

  • Obtain approval prior to changing, editing, or updating any CNC programs, and maintain program log as required by management business systems.
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, drawings, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters.
  • Select cutting tools for optimum performance in a variety of metals and plastics.
  • Monitor and protect the assets of the company and ensure that appropriate tooling is used for each job.
  • Set-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting various attachments and tools.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Complete preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces.
  • Maintain quality standards by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting operations.
  • Identify errors and troubleshoot as possible, escalating unresolved issues to supervisor.
  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in Machine Tool Technology or related subject preferred.
  • 5 years minimum experience as a Horizontal Machinist in a precision machine shop required.
  • Experience as a journeyman machinist in a precision machine shop with CAD/CAM programming experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to operate within a MS Windows environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data, schematics, prints and travelers.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, metric to standard conversion, and fractions to decimals.
  • Trade School Certification in a related discipline or Apprenticeship.
  • Experience with Data Collection software and ERP systems.
