The CNC Field Service Technician position at Heller Machine Tools involves extensive domestic travel, requiring candidates to be comfortable working from home and visiting clients across the USA on a daily or weekly basis. This role is critical in ensuring the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Heller CNC machining centers, which are essential for various manufacturing processes. The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, providing professional technical support to clients, and analyzing complex machine components to identify failure modes. In addition to hands-on repair work, the technician will support the transportation of tooling and spare parts to customer sites, engage in discussions with clients to diagnose issues, and request necessary spare parts through the Aftermarket Sales group. Thorough documentation of repairs and tracking of expenses is also a key responsibility, ensuring that all service reports are completed accurately. The position does not involve supervisory responsibilities, but it does require a strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems commonly used in CNC machining. The technician will need to demonstrate professionalism and ownership in meeting client goals, as well as possess excellent planning and time management skills. Training will be provided, including job-shadowing experienced colleagues and potential training in Germany by Heller Academy trainers.
