A Brief Summary of This Position: Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the CNC Drill Operator is responsible for operating the CNC vertical mill machining centers including HAAS VF2/VF3 and Quick Mill, upright drill presses, saw and hand drills. Shift: 1st shift (Days) Monday-Friday 7AM-3PM Starting Hourly Pay Rate (LG6): $23.64 Opportunity for step pay increases at 90 days, 1 year & 2 years

Requirements

  • One year or more working in a manufacturing environment
  • One year or more CNC machining experience with HAAS vertical mill
  • The ability to modify/execute simple programing for HAAS systems
  • The ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
  • The ability to accurately read a tape measure and micrometer
  • The ability to read Valmont blueprints
  • The ability to walk and stand up to 100% of the shift
  • The ability to work in an environment with a high noise level

Nice To Haves

  • Three to five years of previous CNC machining experience with HAAS vertical mill preferred
  • Two years of previous experience working in a Manufacturing environment
  • Two years of previous experience operating a forklift
  • Technical training certificate and or degree in CNC machining
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret production drawings.
  • Understand machine controls, program codes, fixtures and tool offsets, and CNC systems for HAAS and or Quick Mill machines.
  • Use shop mathematics, including decimals, complex fractions, and simple algebra to lay out various products of the unit, and determining various cutting depths, feed rates, and revolution per minute.
  • Uses measuring instruments such as a protractor, framing square, tape measure, tri-square, center finder, levers, scribes, calipers, and drill gauges to fabricate various products of the unit.
  • Understand material requirements and specifications as stated on blue prints and drawings.
  • Decide with learned solutions the sequence of set ups, operations, and processes within the limitations of recognized methods and procedures for completing work in process according to work schedules and constraint and shipping buffers.
  • Coordinate with other personnel in the small parts area to ensure the proper sequence of operations to be performed on specific parts to maintain workloads.
  • Maintain housekeeping in work area, and on all machines used.
  • Perform operator preventive maintenance on equipment, and informs supervisor and/or lead person of any breakdowns or damage of equipment or parts.
  • Use a digraph metal marker to write the individual part number specified on shop packet to the actual part for identification purposes.
  • Stack completed parts and shop packets neatly on a pallet according to part number and quantity.
  • Assures parts are stacked neat and safe on pallet and moves the pallet to the “out area” or to the next designated work center using a pallet jack.
  • Read and interprets work orders and daily production schedules.
  • Writes entries on daily shop production labor report to show work completed.
  • Maintain housekeeping in assigned areas.
  • Be responsible for safety and environmental issues regarding assigned area, i.e. material handling of material, crane use, vacuum lift use, cutting torch, hot parts, lifting weight limits, proper eye protection, and proper level in water table to minimize smoke generated during cutting process.
  • Other duties as assigned
