About The Position

Are you ready to build a hands-on career in advanced manufacturing and earn while you learn?   Launch your career with Busch Vacuum Solutions through our Registered CNC Machinist Apprenticeship Program based in Virginia Beach, VA.   This full-time, paid apprenticeship combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction—all covered by Busch—as you work toward becoming a skilled CNC Machinist. Aligned with the Virginia Registered Apprenticeship Program and the U.S. Department of Labor, the program is designed to last approximately 2 to 2.5 years.   As a Busch apprentice, you’ll join a dedicated team in our Tooling Operations Department, gaining practical experience in operating, programming, and maintaining precision CNC machinery. You’ll develop technical skills, earn industry-recognized credentials, and get paid every step of the way.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must place in entry-level college Math and English and enroll in the appropriate classes based on placement scores
  • Successful completion of the online Mechanical Aptitude Test (a 20-minute test assessing mechanical skills)
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications and email
  • Willingness to travel domestically for training
  • Strong eagerness to learn, reliability, and a solid work ethic
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Must be able to pass a 10-panel drug screen and a 7-year criminal background check
  • Ability to wear and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment around machinery, noise, and airborne particles
  • Must be able to see and hear safety alerts and wear required PPE

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and specifications is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Train in the setup and operation of CNC machinery including lathes and mills
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Gain experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection tools
  • Understand basic programming (G&M code) and tool setup
  • Work alongside experienced machinists and engineers in a team environment
  • Attend and participate in required classroom instruction as part of your workweek
