Flexibility:There are opportunities to work 12 hour shifts at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Employees can work a minimum of 24/hrs every 6 weeks or more. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/ Equivalent
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR
  • Active Maryland CNA License
  • Six Months of CNA experience in an inpatient setting relevant to the unit within the last two years.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique, basic wound care, patient safety, and patient transport techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform delegated duties related to the comfort and personal needs of the patients with consideration of their developmental needs.
  • These activities may include ADL(s), nutritional support, patient mobility, vital signs, changing beds, replenishing room supplies and assisting healthcare team with specific treatments and/or procedures.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and Nursing staff and demonstrate excellent interpersonalskills.
  • Reads and interprets equipment readings, in conjunction with patient information.
  • Knowledgeable of operating parameters of patient care equipment.
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, radiation and pharmacological agents.
  • Work requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Work requires lifting and/or positioning patients and transporting wheelchairs, beds and related equipment.
  • Work requires manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform delegated patient care procedures.
  • Work may require contact with aggressive and/or combative patients.
  • Employees in this position will be required to adhere to work availability and unit scheduling requirements.
  • This may include, but is not limited to availability status, mandatory overtime, on call and shift work.
