Requirements

  • Successful completion of a State approved nursing assistant training program. Prior geriatric nursing aide experience is preferred. Registration with State of Connecticut registry required.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
  • Ability to legibly track and document care given to each resident.

Responsibilities

  • Assists residents with dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting, exercising, and ambulating.
  • Reports and records observations and results of treatments, tests, procedures, and specimens when indicated.
  • Reports and records residents’ vital signs and weight.
  • Reports all significant changes in residents’ condition to nurse immediately. Document in clinical record in POC.
  • Answers signal lights promptly.
  • Changes bed linens, makes beds and keeps rooms clean and orderly.
  • Encourages independence, attendance at activities, restorative programs, and rehabilitation.
  • Attends in-service training and education session, as assigned.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Preforms safe and efficient operation of mechanical lift equipment.
  • Follow all infection control standards.
