About The Position

QUALIFICATIONS Required: Ability to chart using accepted medical terminology symbols, and abbreviations; Ability to spell correctly; Follow universal precautions for infection control; Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships, communicate clearly in written and spoken word. Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to function as a team member in a multi-task oriented environment; Maintain and enforce confidentiality and respect patient, family, and peer rights. Lic/Reg/Cert: Current Oregon CNA certification TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS Must be able to withstand constant walking, standing, lifting at least 50 lbs. or more, push/pull regulation hospital equipment, occasional sitting. Must be able to function during periods of stress, and exposure to trauma and/or disease and have the requisite visual, auditory and fine motor skills. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Follows department procedures for receiving and giving change of shift report. Makes rounds on all assigned patient immediately after report. Maintains tidiness of patient rooms and “on-stage” public areas. Takes full set of vital signs and other allowed observations per instructions of the RN and documents results promptly and accurately. Immediately reports significant vital signs and/or changes in vital signs to RN. Performs authorized procedures and assists patient with activities of daily living as appropriate for age, developmental level, and condition. Demonstrates effective time management for assigned tasks. Demonstrates professionalism during all levels of interaction with patients, medical staff, colleagues and patient families/significant others. Written communication is accurate, complete, legible and channeled correctly in a timely manner. Answers telephone and patient calls promptly and courteously using proper etiquette. Takes accurate telephone messages and follows up verbally and/or in writing on all calls in a timely manner. Reports absences from unit and return time to assigned RN and Charge Nurse without fail. Maintains the dignity and confidentiality of patients and employee at all times. Consistently maintains a professional appearance and dress. Wear name badge in accordance with hospital policy at all times. Inspires confidence from patients, visitors and coworkers by performing in a quite and unhurried manner to demands. Provides patient care and performs tasks using job skills and growth and development knowledge specific to patient’s age and developmental level. While performing job tasks, demonstrates awareness of cultural and spiritual practices of the customer(s). Completes required hours of orthopedic education topics annually as directed by the Ortho Steering team for the Hip and Knee program certification. Meets clinical competencies of hip and knee certification program in order to directly care for a Hip and Knee patient. MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs other duties as assigned.
