The Certified Nurse’s Aide assists the licensed nursing staff by performing routine nursing duties and activities of daily living.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a State approved nursing assistant training program. Prior geriatric nursing aide experience is preferred. Registration with State of Connecticut registry required.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
- Ability to legibly track and document care given to each resident.

Responsibilities
- Assists residents with dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting, exercising, and ambulating.
- Reports and records observations and results of treatments, tests, procedures, and specimens when indicated.
- Reports and records residents’ vital signs and weight.
- Reports all significant changes in residents’ condition to nurse immediately. Document in clinical record in POC.
- Answers signal lights promptly.
- Changes bed linens, makes beds and keeps rooms clean and orderly.
- Encourages independence, attendance at activities, restorative programs, and rehabilitation.
- Attends in-service training and education session, as assigned.
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Preforms safe and efficient operation of mechanical lift equipment.
- Follow all infection control standards.
