Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, assists in caring for patients and/or families from admission through discharge. Definition A Nursing Assistant is a licensed paraprofessional trained to provide personal care, basic nursing support, and related healthcare assistance to individuals who are sick, disabled, or infirm and who receive services from healthcare facilities or agencies licensed by the state. The Nursing Assistant must hold an active license issued by the Rhode Island Department of Health.
