About The Position
Where You’ll Work Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility. Job Summary and Responsibilities We are offering up to a $1,500 Sign-On Bonus to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Successful Completion of the 75-hour state-approved Nursing Assistant course
- Active Nurse Aide (CNA) license in good standing in Nebraska
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association
Responsibilities
- Check-in with the outgoing CNA at the beginning of your shift to get a report on your patients.
- Conduct hourly rounds on patients, checking vitals, maintaining whiteboard information, and assisting with care as needed.
- Assist patients with ambulation as necessary. This may mean helping them reach a recliner in their room, walk to the bathroom, or down the hall.
- Assist released patients in getting safely to their vehicles outside.
- Assist patients with hygiene needs. This can include a full bed bath, an assisted bed bath, or retrieving towels and soap for ambulatory patients.
- Help the bedside nurse with tube insertions such as an NG tube, rectal tube, or catheter. You may be holding a cup of water, holding the patient, or providing the nurse with supplies as needed and cleaning up after.
- Help the bedside nurse with any wound checks or dressing changes. This may mean holding the patient or supplies and cleaning up after.
- Change bed linens, check patients’ weight, and other tasks as assigned each day.
