About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant provides hands-on personal care, participant support, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) in accordance with the State of Maryland COMAR 10.12.04. The CNA works under the supervision of the RN and LPN to ensure participant safety, comfort, dignity, and engagement throughout the program day.

Requirements

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – Maryland Board of Nursing (active and in good standing).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two-years of nursing experience (adult day care, geriatric, long-term care, or clinic experience preferred).
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and assist participants safely.
  • Reliable, patient, and able to work in a fast-paced care environment.
  • Full-time, Monday through Friday.
  • Must pass background check, drug screen, TB test, and provide immunization records.
  • Works under supervision of RN and LPN in a structured adult day care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist participants with ADLs, including toileting, hygiene, grooming, transfers, and ambulation.
  • Provide support with feeding, hydration, and monitoring eating patterns.
  • Help maintain participant comfort, safety, and dignity at all times.
  • Observe and report any changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral condition to the RN/LPN.
  • Perform safe transfers using proper techniques (gait belts, walkers, canes, wheelchairs).
  • Escort participants throughout the center, including to activities, dining areas, and restrooms.
  • Maintain fall-prevention practices and assist in monitoring at-risk participants.
  • Monitor and support participants with dementia, cognitive impairments, or behavioral needs.
  • Assist activity staff with group programs, recreation, and engagement.
  • Encourage participation and provide one-on-one support for individuals needing extra help.
  • Support transportation transitions including arrival and departure routines.
  • Onboard the transportation van with the Driver to assist with the participant’s transportation when necessary.
  • Complete required ADL charts, toileting logs, bowel movement logs, feeding records, and incident reports.
  • Follow communication protocols when reporting participant status to nursing staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA requirements.
  • Follow all infection-control standards and universal precautions.
  • Assist with cleaning and sanitizing equipment, wheelchairs, walkers, and activity areas.
  • Participate in outbreak protocols under the supervision of the RN.
  • Maintain proper hand hygiene and PPE use at all times.
