The CNA Training Program is intended for High School students in their Junior year, who will be seniors starting the 2025/2026 school year. This program allows students to complete the training required to sit for the Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant Certification and begin employment with Aurora as a Nursing Assistant Youth Apprentice at an Aurora medical center. The training will take place onsite in Oconomowoc, WI, with specific practice and testing dates held near St. Luke's campus in Milwaukee. Students must commit to working 8-hour shifts, typically from 2 PM to 10:30 PM or 3 PM to 11:30 PM, and maintain 20 hours a week during school, including a weekend and holiday rotation.

  • Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
  • Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs (Temperature, Pulse, Respiration), I & O (Intake and Output), daily weights, and other patient data as requested.
  • Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and communicates observations, concerns, and needs of patient/family to RN.
  • Participates in admission, transfer and discharge process under supervision of RN.
  • Completes various errands as directed including pick-up and delivery of trays, charts, specimens, and reports.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties which require lifting and pushing/pulling.
  • Performs tasks related to nutritional needs of patient under direction of RN.
  • Practices within policies and procedures of infection prevention.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days.
  • Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry.
  • No formal education required.
