About The Position

Become familiar with the facility's administrative structure. Identify residents before administering care, serving meals, etc., using their wristband or photo ID. Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, and charts in an informative and descriptive manner. Use only authorized facility abbreviations when recording information. Report all observed accidents, incidents, and changes in a resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident information and report any suspected violations or unauthorized attempts to access facility systems. Perform only the nursing care procedures for which you have been trained. Greet and escort new residents to their rooms, introducing them to roommates and staff as appropriate. Prepare residents' rooms for arrival, including making the bed, putting up name tags, and ensuring an admission kit is available. Assist with residents' personal possessions, including inventory, marking items, storing clothing, and packing/unpacking during transfers or discharge. Transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas and assist with loading/unloading them from vehicles. Participate in and receive nursing reports as instructed. Follow established policies regarding exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals. Perform bed-making duties and provide extra covers as requested. Measure and record residents' temperatures, pulses, and respirations (TPRs), weight, and height as instructed. Regularly check on residents who are unable to call for help and answer all resident calls promptly. Assist residents with their meals, including identifying food items for those with sight problems. Record residents' food and fluid intake and report any changes in eating habits to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse. Keep residents' water pitchers clean, filled with fresh water, and within easy reach. Perform after-meal care, such as removing trays and cleaning residents' hands and faces. Adhere to work assignments and schedules. Cooperate with other departments and facility personnel to ensure quality nursing services. Report all allegations of resident abuse, misappropriation of property, and any requests by residents to refuse treatment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an 8th-grade education.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions (written, oral, or diagram).
