About The Position

SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the registered nurse, assists in the delivery of patient care. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to meet the physical, psychosocial, educational and spiritual needs of the patient and their family. TEMPORARY JOB FUNCTIONS Prior to Opening of TRC One day per week conducting pre-development functions inclusive of: Remainder of work time, serve as a Certified Nursing Assistant in St. John’s Staffing Agency Initiative. Performing duties under St. John’s Certified Nursing Assistant Job Description. Take assignments as directed by the agency’s staffing director. These functions fall off after the opening of the TRC. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Personal Care: Performs assigned duties as directed by the Registered Nurse or agency staffing director. Obtaining and documenting vital signs. Assisting with all activities of daily living inclusive of bathing, dressing, personal care and grooming. Mobility assistance including transfers, ambulation, positioning, range of motion, and positioning precautions. Responsible for observing Elders wellbeing (i.e.: change in behavior, change in vital signs, etc.) and reporting such changes to the appropriate team member Implements infection control measures Documenting services as required by assignment All other duties as assigned within a Certified Nursing Assistant’s scope of practice. Housekeeping: Cleans all areas of the Elder’s environment according to housekeeping procedures with the assistance of EVS Staff Responsible for room clean out after patient has left TRC in preparation for next patient with the assistance of EVS staff as needed. Safety: Obeys safety rules of St. John’s United Identifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards Routinely places wet floor signs or other safety warning materials to notify others of the hazard Knows and adheres to fire, emergency, and security policies and procedures Mission/Customer Service: Supports the growth and actively engages in the Eden Alternative philosophy, including a work environment with plants and animals. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior experience in a human service or health care setting preferred.
  • Must possess a current Montana State Nurses Aide Certification, or have completed the SJU CNA Course and will obtain certification within 120 days of class completion.
  • Must be certified nursing assistant and, complete Abuse Training and required training in Serve Safe ™, food preparation, basic nutritional guidelines related to resident menu planning and basics of household financial management, housekeeping, infection control, light maintenance.
  • Must possess good writing, verbal and observation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities.
  • This position requires the ability to function independently in performing duties and be able to problem solve using good judgment with the Elder’s involvement whenever possible.
  • The person needs to be able to respond to Elders needs in a timely and professional manner, recognizing the Elder’s rights.
  • Incumbent performs job tasks following established procedures and works with team leader to identify and address problems or concerns within the team.
  • Requires lifting, bending, walking and standing for prolong periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
