About The Position

The Senior Nurse Aide (CNA) at UC San Diego Health plays a crucial role in supporting patient care by assisting with daily living activities and performing basic medical procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position is essential for maintaining the continuum of care in a fast-paced environment, particularly in the Cardiovascular Center's 4AB PCU, during night shifts.

Requirements

• Valid California CNA Certificate is required.
• BART or BLS certification at time of hire, with a commitment to obtain BART within six months of hire.
• Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal patient conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Previous acute care experience.
• Previous PCU experience.
• Familiarity with PCIS, UCSD Paging & Scheduling Systems.
• Knowledge of medical terminology or a certificate in medical terminology training.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic care and assistance with daily activities of living for patients.
• Perform uncomplicated technical procedures such as EKGs.
• Participate in basic medical records coding and quality assurance monitoring.
• Utilize a variety of technical equipment and supplies for patient care.
• Assist with patient transport to other units and procedural areas.
• Deliver laboratory specimens and blood products to the unit.
• Assist with CPR during Code Blue situations.
• Cross-train to the role of Hospital Unit Secretary and Environmental Care Partner.
• Participate in team training and evaluation of peers, scheduling of work, and administrative functions.
