About The Position

The position involves working collaboratively to maintain patient safety and provide basic patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The role includes constant observation of patients, effective communication with co-workers and families, and performing delegated tasks while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 60 days from hire.
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification to be obtained within 60 days from hire.
• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

Nice To Haves

• Hospital and telemetry experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams.
• Complete documentation of patient related tasks.
• Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and communication style.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
