About The Position

The CNA Nursing Assistant position at Advocate Health involves providing essential support to registered nurses in the daily care of patients. This role is part-time, requiring 24 hours of work per week, with shifts from 0630 to 1900, including weekend and holiday rotations as needed. The position is located at Aurora Medical Center Summit in Oconomowoc, WI. The job includes a variety of responsibilities such as assisting with patient hygiene, measuring vital signs, and documenting patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The CNA will also participate in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensuring that patients are comfortable and their needs are met.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days.
  • Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry.
  • Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), or High School Graduate.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
  • Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs (Temperature, Pulse, Respiration), I & O (Intake and Output), daily weights, and other patient data as requested.
  • Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and communicates observations, concerns, and needs of patient/family to RN.
  • Participates in admission, transfer and discharge process under supervision of RN.
  • Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated.
  • Completes various errands including pick-up and delivery of trays, charts, specimens, and reports.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties which require lifting and pushing/pulling.
  • Maintains skin integrity and ensures special patient supplies and appliances are provided and maintained.
  • Practices within policies and procedures of infection prevention.
