About The Position

The CNA Nursing Assistant - Float Pool Weekend Program at Advocate Health is a full-time position requiring work on weekends (Friday to Sunday) with a shift from 1845 to 0715. The role involves assisting registered nurses (RNs) with daily patient care, including bathing, feeding, and ambulation, while also documenting vital signs and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The position requires participation in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes, as well as performing various errands and maintaining the nursing area. The CNA will also be responsible for ensuring patient comfort and safety, including proper positioning and skin care. The role demands adherence to infection prevention policies and the ability to provide age-appropriate care.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days.
  • Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry.
  • Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), or High School Graduate.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
  • Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs, I & O, daily weights, and other patient data as requested.
  • Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and communicates observations, concerns, and needs of patient/family.
  • Participates in admission, transfer and discharge process under supervision of RN.
  • Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing.
  • Completes various errands including pick-up and delivery of trays, charts, specimens, and reports.
  • Performs patient positioning and transporting duties utilizing proper technique and assistive devices.
  • Maintains skin integrity through proper repositioning and skin care.
  • May be required to remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and bladder scans under RN direction.
  • Practices infection prevention policies and demonstrates hand hygiene.
