About The Position

As a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), you will be a cornerstone of patient care, directly contributing to comfort, safety, and recovery by providing essential support under RN direction. Requirements

  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) issued by the state of MN.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient personal care/hygiene and physical comfort, including feeding, bathing, shaving, changing clothes, cleaning, bed-making, assisting with ambulation, enemas, skin care and bowel/bladder elimination; provides such additional care as required to meet the personal needs and comfort of assigned patients based on skill, ability, limitations of scope of practice and patient acuity.
  • Reports and documents patient temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
  • Obtains and records measurement of patient height and weight; attaches patient to monitoring equipment.
  • Observes and reports changes in patient condition.
  • Assists nursing staff in the admission, discharge and transfer of patients by performing activities such as inventorying/storing patient belongings, providing patient with relevant personal care/comfort items, orienting patient/family and transporting patient to room or other location using wheelchairs, stretchers or patient beds.
  • Obtains and labels a variety of samples (e.g. urine, stool and sputum specimens); transports blood and blood products.
  • Prepares patient, equipment and supplies for specific procedures/examinations; instructs/assists patient in removing articles of clothing, jewelry and related items; escorts patient to dressing booths and assists them in putting on gown; assists with lifting, turning and moving patient and transfer to/from bed and procedure table.
  • Provides patient information to nursing staff for inclusion in the interdisciplinary plan of care; documents relevant patient data in accordance with work unit standards.
