About The Position

The Patient Care Associate (CNA/MA/CMA) performs basic screening procedures for a primary care clinic as assigned. This role involves assisting in the well functioning of on and off site clinics and demonstrating competency in various advanced-level skills. The Patient Care Associate is responsible for a range of tasks including preparing the physical set-up of clinics, completing and recording vital signs, conducting quality control checks, sterilizing instruments, and providing translation services for patients and staff.

Requirements

  • Requires high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Provides proof of program completion from an approved Certified Nurse Assistant.
  • Maintains CPR card.
  • Ability to type and basic computer skills.
  • Effective communication skills, including neat and legible handwriting.
  • Ability to translate medical information effectively.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English: Reading - Preferred, Written - Preferred, Speaking - Required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares physical set-up of clinics and cleans up after clinic.
  • Completes, records, and graphs client's length/height, weight, head circumference, and vital signs.
  • Completes and records Waived Testing as applicable.
  • Conducts quality control checks on all CLIA waived equipment.
  • Completes sterilization of instruments and maintains autoclave.
  • Prepares laboratory specimens for pick-up or mailing.
  • Directs clients in completion of clinic forms.
  • Notifies staff nurse of problems or alterations in client status.
  • Assists staff nurse, clinic physician, or Nurse Practitioner as requested.
  • Provides translation services and support for health center patients.
  • Maintains current CPR certification.
  • Familiarizes and complies with all VNA policies and procedures.
