About The Position

The Nursing Assistant – Associate is the entry point for the Providence Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship Program. The program provides training and support for individuals with no, or very little, direct healthcare experience. The successful applicant is provided an educational program that prepares the Nursing Assistant – Associate for state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Once the Nursing Assistant – Associate is validated on all skills and has completed the education and clinical content of the program, the Nursing Assistant – Associate is advanced to the Nursing Assistant – Journey position. Upon completion of the entire apprenticeship program, and one year in the Nursing Assistant – Journey position, the Nursing Assistant – Journey is advanced to the Nursing Assistant – Senior position. Program Start Date: March 23rd, 2026 This learning program is hiring you as a caregiver at Providence where you will be provided compensation for learning & training in preparation for state certification as a CNA. This job will train and prepare you for state certification as a CNA and career path promotion for you to continue to work at Providence after taking the exam. This position requires you to live within commuting distance from Providence Alaska Medical Center. During this program, you are expected to work 8-12-hour shifts, 36-40 hours a week which may be day or night shifts as well as weekends. This program requires full participation and schedule flexibility. Planned or unplanned time off will not be granted during the 12-week educational period. After program completion, the work schedule will be (Three)12-hour shifts per week (36 hours weekly), any day/night of the week, including weekends in the Float Pool department.

Requirements

  • Provider BLS - American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
  • No direct healthcare or patient care experience required.
  • This is an entry level position that will provide the education and experiences necessary to become a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Alaska.
