Supports the CNA and Nursing staff while preparing to become a CNA through learning on the job, and fulfilling certification requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current State of Hawaii Nurse Aide certificate. Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Proficiency in using a computer, which may include using such software as Vision or Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and other applicable software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Practices skills and achieves competencies learned in school under the supervision of clinical staff.
  • Interacts with residents in the Health Care Center in accordance with AFC’s mission, core values, mindsets and guideposts.
  • Replenishes supplies on the floor and maintains inventories.
  • Runs errands within HCC for staff.
  • Refills water for residents.
  • Prepares and clears area for meals.
  • Tidies rooms and makes beds.
  • Assists with gathering supplies for showers.
  • Observes and reports to Licensed Staff all changes in condition (including significant changes), behavior or whereabouts that may require intervention.
  • Facilitates and supports client participation in planned activities
  • Engages in positive interactions with residents and promotes socialization during unscheduled periods.
  • Delivers messages.
  • Attends mandatory in-service programs.
  • Attends and successfully completes state approved Nurse Aid Training Program
  • Ensures that all residents’ rights and privacy are protected and enforced.
  • Participates and assists during emergency drills and situations such as fire, fire alarms, hurricanes, and other possible emergencies as outlined in the Disaster Response Playbook and/or the AHHS disaster policy.
  • Passes Nurse Aide certification exam.
