About The Position

This position offers compassionate care to all patients based on age-specific needs/expected outcomes, placing an emphasis on high quality, comprehensive treatment, by means of an interdisciplinary team and using a holistic approach. Provides personal care, homemaking, and emotional, social and spiritual support to patients and families - regardless of race, age, sex, religion, handicap or ability to pay during all phases of illness and bereavement.

Requirements

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license issued by the Wyoming Board of Nursing.
  • Valid USA driver's license.
  • Must have clean driving record that follows Cheyenne Regional Medical Center's driving guidelines.
  • Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date.
  • 90 Days (Hospice-Outpatient): Home Health Aid (HHA) certification on CNA license within ninety (90) days of start date.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree.
  • Prior experience as a CNA.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patient with personal care.
  • Assists patient with transferring and ambulation.
  • Assists patient with prescribed exercises and simple procedures which have been taught by appropriate professional personnel.
  • Performs homemaking services which are essential to the patient's care at home.
  • Takes vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate) when appropriate.
  • Turns and repositions bedridden patients preventing breakdown of their skin.
  • Changes bed linens as necessary.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe environment for the patient.
  • Uses safety and patient care equipment appropriately.
  • Reinforces the safe use of equipment to the patient.
  • Uses proper body mechanics when providing patient care/homemaking services.
  • Uses universal precautions in providing services.
  • Recognizes limitations and seeks assistance as needed.
  • Communicates to RN/Therapist/Case Manager by verbal/written communication regarding patient care issues including pertinent changes in the patient's condition.
  • Records care given and pertinent changes in the patient's condition on the Aide Flow Sheet.
  • Works collaboratively with the RN in charge to meet physicians, coworkers, management and other department needs.
  • Acquires a minimum of 12 hours education, 5 being CEU's, yearly.
  • Attend mandatory hospital in-services on a yearly basis.
