About The Position

Join our team as a CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant! This is a full-time position with evening shifts, working 40 hours per week. The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long-term care, providing resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The role includes delivering age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan. The NA is expected to follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position.
  • CNA training and certification required and provided by facility.
  • Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year.
  • A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry if applicable.
  • Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing.
  • Obtains and records vital signs and provides psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents.
  • Assists residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment.
  • Completes tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience for residents.
  • Documents resident interactions and outcomes related to care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
  • Communicates resident's changing condition and care-related concerns to the charge nurse.
  • Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs.
  • Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents in keeping living areas clean.
  • Encourages residents to participate in wellness and recreational programs.
