About the position
The Nursing Assistant (NA) at Good Samaritan Society provides essential caregiving services to residents in a long-term care facility. This role focuses on delivering resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The NA is responsible for meeting the physical and psychological needs of residents, ensuring their comfort and well-being while adhering to infection control policies and care plans.
Responsibilities
- Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents.
- Assist residents with basic health care needs including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Obtain and record vital signs and document resident interactions and care outcomes.
- Communicate changes in residents' conditions to the charge nurse.
- Assist with food preparation and create a positive dining experience for residents.
- Aid in transferring, repositioning, and walking residents using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Participate in wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation.
- Complete housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas.
- Assist providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED preferred but not required.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required within four months of hire.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Satisfactorily complete yearly competency testing and maintain continuing education credits.
