About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position at Quinton Memorial Health and Rehabilitation involves providing routine daily nursing care and services to assigned patients in accordance with their care plans. The role requires assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring their health, and ensuring their comfort and safety under the supervision of nursing staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • CNA Diploma from an accredited CNA Program required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification in accordance with state laws.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients in and out of bed and into wheelchair with the correct use of the transfer belt.
  • Assists patients in bathing, including bed baths, tub baths, and showers.
  • Assists patients in dressing or undressing.
  • Assists patients in using the bathroom and/or bedpan and peri-care.
  • Takes vital signs of patients and records information.
  • Assists patients to the dining area for meals and may assist in feeding them.
  • Strips bedding and replaces it with clean linens.
  • Assists in personal grooming of patients, including brushing hair and trimming nails.
  • Turns patients intermittently if bedridden due to illness.
  • Cleans bedpans and empties catheter bags.
  • Documents and/or reports information regarding patients' health and care given.
  • Distributes fresh water to patients and picks up used water pitchers.
  • Passes food trays to individual patients according to diet cards.
  • Provides oral care and denture care.
  • Provides skin care and assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers as requested.
  • Understands and utilizes care plans and identifies basic food groups in meals.
  • Provides after meal care and applies & releases restraints as needed.
  • Provides external/indwelling catheter care and offers fluids at appropriate times.
  • Provides bowel and bladder training/retraining and colostomy care.
  • Practices proper body mechanics while moving/transferring patients and provides range of motion exercises.
  • Collects stool and urine samples and recognizes/report signs of abuse or changes in condition.
  • Receives and gives reports on patients' status or condition and assists patients to and from activities.
  • Assists patients with walking and provides care for dying patients, including post mortem care.
