About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/Certified Medication Technician (CMT) will provide nursing services to include: assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), medication administration, and monitoring vitals and documentation. The CNA/CMT will also assist with program activities.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification by the State Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • Current Certified Technician (CMT) certification by the State Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid.
  • Current Class C/non-commercial driver’s license in good standing (annually reviewed) if required to drive Easter Seals vehicles.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and interact positively and compassionately with participants, families, care providers, colleagues, and community referral sources.
  • Ability to follow instructions quickly and easily with minimal supervision, and seek out direction promptly. Ability to take initiative and problem-solve.
  • Consistently practices confidentiality of client information.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
  • Ability to accurately and completely document medical information.
  • Aware of potential hazards or problems within the environment and seek out supervision promptly. Report issues, successes, and concerns promptly to Activity Director.
  • Work as a team member with Center Management.
  • Work collaboratively with all center staff.
  • Must be comfortable using the computer, internet and email.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software.
  • Proficient in working with Electronic Health Records.
  • Able to maneuver various pathways for entry / exit into locations.
  • Able to lift, carry and move a variety of items such as supplies, equipment, therapy equipment and supplies, approximately 50 lbs or less.
  • Must be able to assist participants in a wide range of personal care duties (ex. toileting)

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of CNA experience (Preferred).
  • 1 year of Medication Administration experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assist identified participants with ADLs according to the individual needs of the participant, including toileting, ambulation, transfers, feeding, changing clothes, and showers.
  • Assist with medication administration, health screening and patient care, per verbal request of Health Director, R.N. This includes monitoring participants’ TPRs, blood pressure, height, and weight.
  • Assist in preparing participants’ snacks and trays for meal service, including clean up and stocking supplies.
  • Participate and assist participants during daily activities in center, per verbal request of Activities Coordinator. This includes exercise, crafts, and recreational activities.
  • Assist participants boarding and exiting vans.
  • Observe participants for change in condition and report to the Health Director.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the Center’s neat, clean, and safe environment.
  • Attend and meaningfully contribute to regular Center Staff meetings and activity staff meetings.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a current knowledge base in related areas of work.
  • Build productive rapport with employees, participants, and guests.
  • Foster a positive work relationship.
  • Communicate appropriate information with others according to established procedures so that day-to-day operations are effectively conducted.
  • Maintains expected level of attendance and punctuality.
  • Completes annual education requirements on-time and demonstrates ongoing focus on personal development.
  • Adheres to all Easter Seals policies and procedures.
  • Consistently demonstrates Easter Seals Service Excellence Standards of respect, advocacy, appearance, confidentiality, and communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
