About The Position

The position involves providing basic, quality patient-focused care in a clinical setting under the daily direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The role includes performing delegated tasks that support the environment of patient care, ensuring that patients and their families are treated with dignity and respect. Responsibilities include assisting the RN with daily patient care activities such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation, as well as measuring and documenting vital signs and other patient data. The position also requires participation in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensuring that patient needs are met and that the environment is conducive to healing. The role demands maintaining competency in various tasks, including specimen collection and point-of-care testing, while adhering to infection prevention policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 45 days of hire.
  • Nurse Aide certification in good standing with the State Registry.
  • Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Graduate.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic patient care under the supervision of an RN.
  • Assists with daily care activities including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Measures and documents vital signs and other patient data.
  • Participates in admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Ensures patient call light is always in reach and answers promptly.
  • Collects specimens and performs point-of-care testing as needed.
  • Maintains and orders stock for nursing area and cleans equipment.
  • Performs patient positioning and transporting duties using proper techniques.
  • Maintains skin integrity and assists with nutritional needs under RN direction.
