About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is a certified person who performs direct care in the department setting. The PCA II maintains a current certification in patient care and is responsible to assist patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the RN as long as the activity does not distract from primary responsibility for dysrhythmia monitoring.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Certification in Patient Care required (M.A. / CNA / EMT / Paramedic / Patient Care Tech, etc.).
  • Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintain current preferred.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician, preferred.
  • Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
  • Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
  • Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office, preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current per facility requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform direct patient care in the department setting.
