About The Position

The CNA/Activities Assistant position at Good Samaritan Society focuses on improving the quality of life for patients and residents by providing appropriate, meaningful activities and interventions on both a one-on-one and group basis. The role involves administering the monthly activity calendar, eliciting patient input for activity planning, and ensuring activities are well organized and engaging. The assistant will partake in various activities, support residents in maintaining dignity and identity, and assist with simple nursing procedures and transportation of patients. The position requires creativity, strong communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously while following instructions under supervision.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in social services or creative activities preferred.
  • Experience in geriatrics preferred.
  • Knowledge of working with a wide variety of resident demographics.
  • Preferred current Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) certification or currently enrolled as a student in a healthcare related program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required based on location.
  • Must be certified in CPR within six months of hire.
  • Must obtain and maintain required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be medically qualified to perform driving functions.

Responsibilities

  • Administers the monthly activity calendar.
  • Elicits patients/residents input into activity planning.
  • Keeps activities well organized and upbeat.
  • Partakes in activities appropriate for the patient/department.
  • Assists with simple nursing procedures.
  • Transports patients/residents to and from rooms.
  • Assists with Minimum Data Set's (MDS's)/EPIC's documentation.
  • Displays creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities to develop and motivate people.
  • Maintains strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Prioritizes responsibilities while working autonomously.
  • Plans and oversees the utilization of resources.
