The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients within the 3W Med Surg unit. This role involves receiving patient care assignments from the registered nurse, initiating delegated tasks, and collecting and documenting patient data for admission assessments and reassessments. The CNA is responsible for relaying information to team members, informing the licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition or needs, and responding to patient calls. Key duties include assisting with personal care such as baths, ambulating, feeding, skin care, and hygiene, as well as performing various medical tasks like dressing changes, ostomy care, catheter care, and specimen collection. The CNA also prepares patients for discharge, manages supplies and equipment, assists with clerical duties, orients new patients, and operates medical equipment, potentially performing point of care testing. The position requires working in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
