About The Position

Under the direction of the Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) Director and Manager, responsible for overseeing routine daily operations of the CMU. Supervises all cardiac monitor technicians in the CMU, assists with scheduling, and conflict resolution as needed. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.

Requirements

  • Completion of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree in nursing required.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing for practice in the state of Tennessee.
  • Responsible for Continuing Education Units annually.
  • BLS certification required, and must remain current while in this position.
  • At least 2 years as an RN on a floor with continuous cardiac monitor experience.
  • Proven strong cardiac telemetry experience is required.
  • Skill and proficiency in the principles, concepts, and techniques of the nursing profession as normally acquired through the completion of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree in nursing.
  • Knowledge of Windows computer environment and use of database information and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload to maximize quality, value, and service.
  • Proven critical thinking skills and initiative

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Additional educational preparation in administrative techniques is desirable.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • ACLS certification preferred.
  • Certification in area of clinical expertise by recognized authoritative agency desirable.
  • Additional certifications/competencies may be required at department discretion.
  • Prefer a minimum of 3 years of hospital experience.
  • EPIC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns and supervises cardiac monitoring technicians according to shift needs.
  • Ensures adequate staffing on scheduled workdays.
  • Motivates, coaches, provides feedback, and support of daily operations and projects or goals to ensure meeting the objectives of the CMU.
  • Works with the RPM Director and Manager to provide supervision of onboarding, orientation and ongoing education for team members, both in the classroom and live patient care environment.
  • Ensures the team is providing quality, accurate work and utilizing effective time management.
  • Participates in training, evaluates employee performance, and participates in counseling, reprimands, disciplinary actions, and dismissals for assigned personnel.
  • Responds to monitored patient emergencies appropriately according to established escalation standards.
  • Oversees the maintenance of daily CMU reports and logs as indicated, collecting information entered by staff in a timely and accurate manner for review.
  • Ensures each monitor tech saves and documents rhythm strips as per patient monitoring policy.
  • Accurately identifies and reports arrhythmias to nursing staff, facilitating communication to nursing units in a timely manner.
  • Ensures each monitor tech initiates monitor set-up and maintains monitoring equipment.
  • Performs quality audits on monitor techs to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety.
  • Responds to complaints and incidents, conducts investigations, takes corrective action, and prepares documentation.
  • Evaluates and recommends adequate supplies and equipment necessary for delivery of quality patient care.
  • Evaluates, interprets, and implements hospital and nursing policies and procedures for CMU and recommends changes as needed.
  • Recommends process and continuous quality improvements to the Director and Manager as needed.
  • Provides clinical and classroom instruction for CMU as necessary to include staff teaching and discharge planning.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
