Are you ready to design your future? Be our next CMT Laboratory Manager! Your work environment at EXP In this role you will lead lab operations for soils, aggregates, asphalt and concrete testing, aligned with GDOT standards, AASHTO R18/ISO 17025 accreditation. This role will manage staff, oversee test-reporting workflows, ensure compliance with Testing Requirements, Calibration/Certification, Reporting, Materials Verification and coordinate across field operations, project engineers, and other quality teams.

Requirements

  • Experience in construction materials lab and field testing
  • Minimum 10 years of construction materials testing experience, including at least 3 years in laboratory management or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience with ATSER and GDOT reporting systems.
  • Strong knowledge of GDOT materials testing standards, AASHTO, ASTM and specification compliance.
  • Hold current material testing certification with GDOT.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to travel locally to project sites/labs.
  • Prior experience on large highway construction projects.
  • Hands-on experience with AASHTO R18/ISO 17025 accreditation, proficiency testing programs (AMRL/CCRL), calibration programs, and corrective action systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi‐discipline teams, drive process improvement, and manage multiple contract-based testing operations simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all laboratory operations: sample receipt/logging, testing scheduling, results review, reporting.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train field and laboratory staff; manage staffing levels/routine assignments.
  • Ensure all testing meets GDOT, AASHTO, ASTM standards and applicable project specifications.
  • Maintain/oversee calibration, certification, equipment maintenance, and documentation in accordance with AASHTO R18 and GDOT requirements.
  • Implement and maintain laboratory Quality Management System (QMS) consistent with AASHTO R18 / ISO 17025.
  • Oversee test-report review, approval and submittals via ATSER and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
  • Interface with project engineers, and GDOT representatives for audits, non-conformance resolution, and quality metrics.
  • Generate monthly/quarterly lab performance, turnaround time, staffing, and reports for management.
  • Drive continuous improvement in lab operations (workflow optimization, cost controls, turnaround time improvement, technology/investment upgrades).
